Satechi’s USB-C Mobile Pro Hub SD sits flush with the side of an iPad and adds a USB-A port, plus there’s one for video, headphones and more.

It is an updated version of one of the very first hubs launched back in 2018 specifically for iPads with USB-C. The new model adds SD and microSD card slots plus an extension cable.

For all the improvements made to iPad over the years, Apple continues to include a single USB-C port. Those looking to connect to other accessories need a multiport hub like the one Satechi just launched.

“The new USB-C Mobile Pro Hub SD for iPad M1 allows users to utilize it to its full potential by expanding available ports via a single USB-C connection,” says Satechi.

The collection of ports starts with a USB-A port that supports USB 3.0 for data transfers at up to 5 Gbps or connecting accessories like keyboards. There’s also a USB-C port that can handle 60W of power for charging the iPad.

Satechi built in an HDMI port that can provide 4K video at up to 60 Hz. With it, the iPad is ready to fully take advantage of the support for external displays coming in iPadOS 16.

Plus, there are are SD and microSD card readers (UHS-I) that helps set this version apart from the original, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The USB-C Mobile Pro Hub SD comes with an optional extension cable for connecting the hub to an iPad in a case.

All that’s necessary to take advantage of any of these ports is plug the hub into the tablet – no additional software drivers are required.

It’s compatible with any iPad with an USB-C port, like the 2022 iPad Air M1, 2021 iPad Pro M1, iPad mini 6th gen and 2020/2018 iPad Pro. But it can also be used with Macs and other computers with USB-C ports.

Satechi’s USB-C Mobile Pro Hub SD is available now for $69.99. An introductory sale knocks 20% off that price with code: SD20.

Rival hubs designed to cling to the side of an iPad include the Sanho HyperDrive USB-C 6-in-1 Hub for iPad as well as the HyperDrive 6-in-1 USB-C Media Hub.
