San Francisco: Some users who updated to macOS Monterey complained that USB devices (including hubs and docking stations) did not work after the upgrade.

macOS Monterey is the next version of Apple's desktop and laptop operating system. It replaces the previous macOS Big Sur. It was launched at WWDC 2021 in June along with the latest Apple ecosystem update.

Some users pointed out that macOS Monterey in particular can cause problems with USB 3.0 devices. For some people, their USB hubs no longer work at all, while for others, the HDMI and USB-C ports of their hubs continue to work.

"Since installing Monterey, I cannot connect a trackball or keyboard to the Air through the USB 2.0 or 3.0 port of the hub. The VGA port of the hub is still valid on Monterey; I have not been able to test other ports. In addition, a different hub ( There are fewer ports...) It does work," one user wrote on Apple's developer forum.

"My USB-C hub has a problem with this update. The HDMI port connected to my second screen works on the hub, but the USB3 port does not work at all. I tried different C on MacMini and different hubs Ports (I have 4)," another user said.

As early as July when macOS Monterey was in beta, users had been reporting this issue on Apple's own developer forum.

One user mentioned "My USB-C hub has a problem with this update. The HDMI port connected to my second screen works on the hub, but the USB3 port does not work at all."

In a few cases, the USB hub seems to work, but the power supply port does not work, and for some cases, the additional connection of the external monitor does not work.
