This year, Amazon Prime Day brings with it some seriously tempting deals on monitors - and if you’re serious about digital productivity, then having at least one external display is a must. An increase in screen real-estate can unlock better multi-tasking, giving you more room to spread out multiple windows. It can also help improve posture and comfort while working for long stretches.
If you’ve already got a monitor, now might also be a good time to upgrade. Whether you’re looking for a larger screen size, USB-C connectivity or a higher-resolution display, Amazon Prime Day has bargains and discounts to suit a range of budgets.
We’ve rounded up a selection of our favourite deals below; although we haven’t personally tested or reviewed every model in this list, all are from solid and reliable manufacturers. We’re confident that all of them represent capable choices, and they’re all offered at significant discounts beyond the average price. Unless stated otherwise, all deals end at midnight on 13 July.
Dell’s premium Ultrasharp range can be connected via USB-C, DisplayPort or HDMI, and even boasts a built-in Ethernet port. It offers 90w power delivery for connected devices, but also includes anti-glare coating and a toughened surface. Dell’s Ultrasharp range is one of our favourites for display quality, and this 4K IPS panel should deliver the goods where it counts. It’s a premium product with a premium price, but at £719, the 20% discount should take the sting out a little.
If you’re looking for a bigger monitor with a built-in USB hub, this 32in monitor is the size of many televisions. With a QHD 60Hz screen and USB 3.2 connection, it also offers bias lighting and ‘Comfortview’, making it ideal for watching content even at an awkward angle. Though it’s not part of the premium Ultrasharp series, it still offers many of the features such as on-board Ethernet, and VESA wall mounting. Usually £899, it’s reduced to £719 for Prime Day.
Huawei might not be the first company you think of when it comes to monitors, but the MateView range continues to expand, and this curved 34in model is made for immersive gaming, with a 165Hz refresh rate as well as microphones and speakers. Do note that this model comes in variants with and without a soundbar - the £350 Prime Day price is £100 off, but it is for the non-soundbar variant.
A 28.2in flat monitor can still pack a punch, especially when it offers HDR 4K and a 96% screen-to-bezel ratio, as well as a USB-C powered hub offering two USB 3.0, a second USB- C port with 65w power delivery (enough to keep a laptop running) and a single HDMI and DisplayPort input. It usually retails at £600, but for Prime Day, it’s down to £390.
LG’s 4K offering is a VESA DisplayHDR 400, USB-C powered, IPS-panelled 27in monitor which supports AMD FreeSync and includes two 5W speakers. As well as USB-C and DisplayPort, there’s two HDMI inputs and a headphone port. The RRP is modestly priced at £400, and the £70 discount to £330 makes the price even more attractive.
An absolute beast of a monitor at 37in and with an ultrawide 3,440x1,440 (21:9) ratio, there’s room for multitasking without a pesky second monitor to think about. It also offers DisplayPort and two HDMI ports, which includes an picture-in-picture option in case you want to watch TV while you work. If you’re not bothered about 4K, this is a great package, reduced from £350 to £259.
This curved WQHD monitor offers 4K with a 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10 support. Available in multiple configurations, this offer is for the 27in version with HDMI and DisplayPort connections (although sadly no USB-C), but that should still suit most users looking for a curved screen and high quality image. It’s reduced from £300 to £229.
If you don’t need a UHD (4K) display, why not check out this 27in IPS monitor? It comes with a 75Hz refresh rate and connection via HDMI (or VGA if you’re a staunch traditionalist) - though an old school connection won’t give you the full benefit of the 5ms response time and refresh rate. A great budget option if you’re not ready to take the 4K plunge, it’s got a £50 discount this Prime Day, making it a pocket-friendly £150.
32in is becoming an increasingly common size for monitors and this 4K model also offers an ultra-responsive Game Mode with AMD FreeSync. It offers both Picture-By-Picture and Picture-In-Picture but, unlike most of the monitors in our list, isn’t enabled for HDR. Indeed, one of its two HDMI ports is only version 1.4 (the other is 2.0) which could cause issues if you want to use two UHD sources simultaneously. Nevertheless, a bit of compromise is a big saving and this older model has £111 off, making it £229 this Prime day.
